For maths today, we were doing some geometry coordination. First of all, we had to complete four pages of reading maps. Some of the tasks were pretty easy like: Draw a snake in the jungle and draw a road from toptown to hilltown. Then, we were given a piece paper with instructions and a piece of paper with a half completed dog. Our challenge was to follow the instructions to complete the dog. We then had to color the dog in. For this task, we had to remember and use the ladder rule (You can't go up and across but you can go across then up).
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Screencastify - Maths Strategies
In LS2 we have been learning how to use screencastify to show our learning. Screencastify is a screen recorder that we use to show our learning. For this, we had to find a maths DLO and record ourselves talking about it. It took me a couple of attempts to finishing recording because everyone was recording and talking at the same time. I found screencastify a great tool because it's a new way to show my learning. Above the recording is a screenshot of my plan that I used in my screencastify.

Maths
Today for maths, I created a DLO about my learning. First, we had to figure out three problems, and then we had to put the third one on a DLO. It was kind of hard as first we had to figure how much money Sione gets in the first season and then, in the second season, the amount of money he gets changes which complicated things.

Maths DLO
For maths, we had to figure out a pizza problem. We had to figure out how many people can sit at the smallest table in the pizza place. There was a clue in the problem which gave us part of the answer (Then twelve more people arrived. Unfortunately there were only enough seats for half of them). I really enjoyed solving the problem because it was hard, and I like to challenge myself.

Today for maths we had some word problems. Our Learning Intention is Solving multiplication problems in everyone contexts. We had to do some word problems on this site. Though most people got them all right, which made some ties. Mrs Anderson also played a game against us.

Today, during maths, Mrs Naicker's maths group worked with decimals to solve word problems. During this time, I worked with AJ. We had to use our addition and subtraction skills to solve word problems that were in decimals. They were very hard but we eventually got most of them done. For a warm up, we did a thirty question basic facts test ton see how good we were. I got thirty out of thirty. They were really easy. After that the group had a competition to see who could win in a maths game called hit the button. On hit the button there are several subject, this time we did division. I did alright but I wasn't the best. The decimal word problems were high numbers like 672.80 + 180.76, though we managed to solve them.

Maths Quick Writes
This is a maths quick write that I did today. The question was: How does collaborating with others help you in maths?
Collaborating with other people when you do maths makes it easier. You can talk to each other about what math strategies you are going to use and if whether they are right or wrong on their answer. Also, if you have two problems one person can do one and the other person can do the second one.
