Today for writing, LS2 did some quick writes. They are six sentence story's that can be written quickly. The first sentence that we write is a starter (Like once a upon a time). The first sentence also introduces the main character. The second sentence describes the place where the character lives. The third sentence describes the characters special talent. The fourth sentence describes the character's problem. The fifth tell why the character feels that way, and the final sentence tells how the character solved the problem. Here are some examples that Cyrus and I made. We worked hard as a team to complete these. We had to be creative and imaginative to make these short narrative's. We used the Harris Burdick pictures to prompt our writing.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Maths Quick Writes
This is a maths quick write that I did today. The question was: How does collaborating with others help you in maths?
Collaborating with other people when you do maths makes it easier. You can talk to each other about what math strategies you are going to use and if whether they are right or wrong on their answer. Also, if you have two problems one person can do one and the other person can do the second one.
Maths Quick Writes
This is a maths quick write that I did today. The topic I wrote about was: Why do you think it is important to learn maths in school?
I think it is important to learn maths at school because if you buy something from a shop you have to work out whether the shopkeeper gave you the right change or not. Also when you are selling something you have to make sure the people who are buying give the right amount of money.

Maths Quick Writes
This is a maths quick write that I did today. We had to do a quick write from things like: How do you find 25% of a number and why is it important to know your basic facts. I chose to write about why is it important to know your basic facts.
It is important to know your basic facts because just knowing the simple things (Like 7 + 7) it can help you when you are going somewhere or buying something. If you are going to the supermarket you will probably have to use basic facts to make sure when you buy something you have enough money or you get enough change. Also if you know basic facts you know how to do harder problems. For example, if you know 3 + 3 (6) than you should know what 30 + 30 (60) is because all you have to do is add a zero.
