For this summer learning journey activity, I have to imagine that I was John Key and I had the power to create laws that all people in New Zealand had to follow. If I were the Prime Minister I would make these three rules:
1. Children can go to school whenever they want
2. Teachers have to only give homework once a year
3. You can play games in class

ReplyDeleteI like the rules that you have come up for this activity. I am sure that many of your friends and classmates would also love them! The idea of choosing when to go to school is pretty original. It you could choose, when would you go to school? Would you adjust the current school year in any way? There has been some talk recently about adjusting the school year so that we move the summer holiday from January to later in the year (i.e. mid to late February or March). What do you think of that idea?
I can see the pros and the cons to both keeping the current system and changing it in order to capitalise on the better weather that hits later in Feb/March. I wonder if the current PM will seriously consider the suggestion that we change the timing of the summer holiday. Only time will tell, I suppose...

ReplyDeleteI think your ideas would make lots of people very happy! Students could go to school every day all year if they were super keen to learn, teachers would have very little marking to do because they only give out homework once, and all the learning would take place through games. Cool!
My husband is a teacher and when he taught phys. ed. and outdoor education he always filled his class time with games of all types. He loved it and so did the students. Games are really just a creative way of learning.
