Summer Learning Journey

For this summer learning journey activity I have to imagine that I got back from the country I was visiting and I was back in school. I have to write a speech that I would say to my class.

Hi Everyone,
As you probably know, I have been to Canada during the summer holidays. I had a great time and I visited some awesome places. I also learnt a lot about Canada like their official languages are English and French. One of Canada's holidays is called Canada day. Canada day is celebrated on the 1st of July. People of Canada like to celebrate it by getting together with friends and having a meal. One of Canada's landmarks is called Niagara falls and it is the largest waterfall in the world.

  1. Daniel! Wow! You have just posted a record number of blogs for a single day in the Summer Learning Journey. I am sitting here just amazed. I can't wait to read through all of your entries. I have to put my son to bed but I promise to come back and read through all of your posts later tonight/tomorrow. I will do my very best to comment on all of them as well. You're going to keep me really busy!

It sounds like you've been busy learning all about Canada over the past few weeks. You've certainly learned a lot about the languages that Canadians speak, the celebrations that they have and the beautiful landmarks that dot the country.

I hope that you really enjoyed the journey. Good on you for completing SOOO many tasks. It is just awesome.

    Bye for now :)

    1. Hi Daniel,

So do I! I think that you would really love it. It's a stunning country with so many amazing sights. The people in Canada are really nice - just like kiwis. They're pretty laid back, down-to-earth and pretty polite. In fact, the running joke about Canadians is that we're too polite. Do you think that it's possible to be too polite? I'm not too sure...

      Cheers!

  3. Hi Daniel,

You've given an excellent description of 2 things that Canada is well known for - our Canada Day celebrations and Niagara Falls. I live in Canada, in a small town that is not far from the capital city, Ottawa. On Canada Day people from our town of Almonte gather on the side of a hill in our largest park and enjoy entertainers singing and dancing on a big stage that's set up just for that day. We bring picnics and share barbecues and the children often get their faces painted and run through water sprinklers to cool down. Canada Day is the midst of our summer so it's usually a hot day! At the end of the evening we all stay to watch a beautiful display of fireworks - very fun!

I hope you'll have a chance to come to Canada and see Niagara Falls and some of the other beautiful features of our very big country.

    You're doing a great job!

  4. Hi Daniel,

Congratulations on placing first in the Summer Learning Journey blogging programme this past holiday. Not only did you place first for Panmure Bridge school but you also placed first overall. You were the most active blogger and commenter across all 11 Manaiakalani cluster schools. Wow! Awesome work!

I will look forward to seeing you on Friday when I come in to Panmure Bridge school to hand out the SLJ prizes and certificates.

    See you soon!

    Rachel :)
