For home learning this week Sylis and I made this presentation. The person we learnt about was Mary Seacole. She was a woman who helped soldiers during the Crimean war.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Water Safety Paragraph
Why do we have to stay safe in the water? That is a questions many people ask. You have to learn how to stay safe in the water because the sea, you could drown or get in serious trouble if you can’t swim. Be careful when you swim, even if you are in a pool or in the ocean. It is really important for New Zealand kids to learn how to swim because New Zealand is a island (Land surrounded by water). Also if you get into trouble in the water put your hand in the air.
This is my paragraph about water safety that I wrote with Cyrus. We wrote a paragraph about water safety.
Home Learning
This is week 3's home learning. It was about Kate Sheppard. She was a woman who stood up for women's rights. Now, she is on the current $10 note.

Water Safety
This is my water safety task. I had to answer 6 questions about being safe in the water (The questions are in black and my answers are in blue). I everyone should learn how to stay safe in the water, especially people who live on a island (Like New Zealand).

Today LS2 had a challenge. For SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) we had to help Mrs Anderson with her tweets. We we finished correcting Mrs Anderson's tweets, we then made a DLO about what full stops and commas do. We also completed a task (We had to rewrite a paragraph but with the right punctuation). We worked in groups (In my group there was Manu, Cyrus Eric and CJ).

Shoe Narritive
For writing today I worked with Pote to write a story about the shoes in the picture. We had a good idea about the shoes being Michael Jordan's old shoes.
“Michael Jordan scores again!” Shouted the announcer. It was a basketball game between Chicago Bulls and Florida Tornadoes. “What happening, Jim! I think MJ putting on his Converses. Someone please stop this man!” The announcer screamed as the fans erupted like a volcano. There I was, my arms stretched together making a rippling sounds to all the other shoes. Loud boos begin to enter my mind. It was like they were screaming at me for doing something wrong. Minutes ago, I was lying in my big apartment with a view of all my friends. Growing old started ascending on me a while ago. I feel like I was aging every second. While people booed I started crying. I don’t why or how, but I sure knew I wasn’t welcomed by other people. Because I was a old model of a shoe I was no longer liked by other people. Michael Jordan who is the famous basketball player, is my owner and I think he doesn’t like me anymore. When he wears me other people boo and scream. The game was tiring. I smell sweat as if I had just eaten it an hour ago, all inside of me and water touch my arms.
Later that night
I was in my owner’s hands when suddenly...
*Boom*
Smoke covers my sight. I guess i’m on my own. An old ugly pair of shoes left between a rock and a hard place. How can I survive this situation?
Ballad Poem
Today for reading we worked on a task about ballad poems. We watched this ballad poem about Charlotte Anne. She was a woman back in the 1870s who, unlike the other women wore trousers and boots instead of skirts or dresses. She also went into the forest to cut down trees for a living.

Finding Fractions Of A Amount 2
For maths today I answered three fractions questions. Then I chose one to make a DLO about. It is a fun way to learn fractions because I enjoy answering hard questions. The question tried to trick me though, I almost put dollars instead of pounds.

Kyle Mewburn DLO
Yesterday, on Monday a author called Kyle Mewburn came and visited PBS. He came and talked to us about the difficulties of a writer and the good things about being a writer. He said he couldn't just write a book and expect it to be published, you had to send it to the publisher who might not like it the first time. Sometimes he had to rewrite his books lots of times. It was a fun and interesting experience.
Square Roots
Squares and Square roots

- 5² = 25
- 7 = 7
- √9 = 3
- √36 = 6
- √49 = 7
- √64 = 8
- √81 = 9
For today our maths was to fill in a worksheet about square roots. It was a fun activity because even though I know what square roots are I am not that good at them.

Bias
For reading this week our group was learning about Bias. Bias means only looking at one person's point of view. For example, years ago people who wanted to hire musicians judged people only their gender, not their music ability. So, back then most of the musicians that were hired were males. Now they do blind auditions (Putting a screen between the person hiring and the musician).

Sub Word Wall And Paragph
\
The submarine submerged into the sea at a subzero temperature. As the submarine was leaving the water it crashed into a subject in the water. Meanwhile the subway had just left the station and the passengers were reading subheadings and subtitles of their newspaper. The subway also had a subnetwork so that people could entertain themselves….
Today LS2 got split into groups of four. We then completed a word wall about the word sub (We had to find words with sub like submarine or subway). Then we had to chose eight words from our word wall. Then we put those eight words into a paragraph. Sub means under or below.
Finding Fractions Of An Amount
For maths today I answered three questions about finding fractions of an amount. I then chose one of the problems and made a DLO about how I solved the problem.
