Summer Learning Journey W1 D2 BA

For this summer learning journey activity, the task was to: On your blog, post a picture of your favourite meal. Be sure to tell us what it is and why it is your favourite. You could also include the recipe if you have it so that we can all try it!

My favorite meal is fish and chips. I like it a lot because it's a family meal that we usually buy together and I like how it tastes (especially when you put a ton of tomato sauce on it).

For this summer learning journey activity, the task was to: What is your dream job? Draw a picture of yourself doing your dream job and post it on your blog. You could be a doctor, an actor or even a zookeeper!

My dream job is being a sailor or someone to works out at sea as I love being out in the ocean (swimming or in a boat).

Summer Learning Journey W1 D2 A1

For this summer learning journey activity, the task was to: On your blog, compare the wharepuni to your own home. What are two similarities and two differences between a wharepuni and your house?

Similarities:
  • They both have (the wharepuni and my house) a roof, walls, a door and windows
Differences:
  • The wharepuni has carvings and my house doesn't
  • The wharepuni's roof is really low

PBS Blogging Journey

For this PBS Blogging Journey activity, the task was to: Find different adventurous activities that you can do at the Sky Tower and say which one would you choose, why would you choose it and how much would it cost. At the Sky Tower, you can do the Sky Jump and the Sky Walk. I would choose the Sky Jump because in that activity, you jump off the Sky Tower and that sounds like heaps of fun and the Sky Walk only involves you walking around on a 1.2 meter platform 192 meters up. The Sky Jump costs $225 for a adult and $175 for a child.

PBS Blogging Journey

For this PBS blogging journey activity, the task was to: Create a mascot for the Sky Tower as Scotty (The Sky Tower mascot) is away. Write a explanation about why you chose your mascot. My mascot is named Bob and I chose him because he is designed to look kind of like the Sky Tower (Really tall and thin).

PBS Blogging Journey

For this PBS blogging journey activity, our task was to: Use our smart searching skills to find out five facts about the Auckland Sky Tower and create a DLO about it. I learnt that the Sky Tower cost 76 million dollars to create which seems really expensive.

Winter Learning Journey

For this activity on the winter learning journey, I had to interview a member of my family about their five favourite things to do outside (It can be on land or water). I chose to interview my little brother Alex.

  1. Play handball
  2. Go swimming
  3. Play on a playground
  4. Run around with friends
  5. Wrestle

Winter Learning Journey

For this activity, I had to watch a video of the youngest person to ever sail around the world. Her name is Laura Dekker. I had to imagine that I had the chance to interview Laura and the five questions I would ask her. Here are the questions I would ask her:

  1. What inspired you to sail around the world?
  2. How did you feel when you finally managed to finish you incredible journey?
  3. Did you ever feel, at any point like you wanted to give up?
  4. Did you think sailing around the world would be easy or hard?
  5. Were you confident in your abilities to make it all the way round the world during the journey?

Winter Learning Journey

For the first activity on the second day of the winter learning journey, I went to rangitoto island, karekare beach and tane mahuta. I had to read about the three places and say which place I most enjoyed visiting and why. I enjoyed visiting Karekare beach the most because it is one of Auckland’s most spectacular beaches and wilderness areas.

Summer Learning Journey

For this summer learning journey activity I have to write about two things I did if I visited Wellington. Because I haven’t been to Wellington I have to write about two things I would like to do if I visited the city. The two things I would like to do are: Visit the Te Papa museum and ride on one of their famous cable cars that I have heard about.

Summer Learning Journey

For this summer learning journey activity I have to say whether bullfighting in Spain should be banned. Bullfighting is when people (Called toreros and matadors) fight a live bull. The toreros do most of the work and have to tie the bull up. The matadors then kill the bull. 30% of Spain’s population think that bullfighting should be banned and I agree with them. My first reason is that bullfighting is very dangerous and someone could be killed or badly hurt. My second reason is that a lot of bulls might die because the matador kills the bull.

Summer Learning Journey

For this activity, I have to learn a little bit about the capital city of the country that I have chosen.
Here are the things I found out about Canada’s capital city:
The name of the capital city is Ottawa
In 2011 the population size of Ottawa was 883,391 people
In January the weather is usually very cold
The capital city is located around the south east of Canada

The most spoken language in Canada is French

Winter Learning Journey

For this winter learning journey activity (Activity 4) I watched a video about the Rio De Janeiro 2016 Olympics mascots. Their names and Tom and Vinicius. After watching the video I researched about them and found some cool facts. If you what to know more about the mascots here is a link to a website: https://www.rio2016.com/mascots/#!home. The video was about two characters (Named Vinicius and Tom) who meet and become friends when they chase two floating balls. Olympic and Paralympic Mascots
