Today was athletics day for panmure bridge. The year seven's got split into three groups and competed with each other on the different stations that we went to. The first station we went to was were we had to throw netball/basketballs into a hoop. Everyone had lots of fun, even though we stopped early because of the rain.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

Hockey
Yesterday, the year seven's had hockey for sports. We learnt different skills like dribbling the ball and stopping the ball suddenly. First we played the traffic light game. When one of the coaches said a color (Green, Orange, Red, Purple and Silver) we had to do different things. If you got something wrong, you were out. After that, we played a game (Green v White). I was in the green team. The final score was 4 (Green team) and 2 (White team). Everyone had a lot of fun during our first session of hockey.

Touch
Today, LS2 went to touch with Trevor. Touch is our kiwi sports for a few weeks. We learnt how to pass properly and played a game where we got into a circle and passed the ball around until someone dropped the ball. We also practiced staying on side when we pass the ball. You have to be behind the person with the ball before they pass to you otherwise you will do a forward pass, which is against the rules of the game. Everyone had a great time learning touch.

Cross Country
Today Panmure Bridge School did their cross country. At a bit past one o'clock the whole school went across the road to Dunkirk. First the juniors ran. It rained a lot and it was very cold so when they finished, the juniors went back to school. Next were the seniors. My younger brother came first out of the year fives and my older brother came second out of the year eight's. I also came first out of the year seven's. It was very hard and when I crossed the finish line I was puffing. I had a awesome time running in the cross country.

Run Jump Throw
Yesterday the year seven's and eight's had Run Jump Throw. Our focus this week was on Long Jump. We practiced jumping from a yellow line on the court to the field. We went into groups of five. The person who jumped the furthest then went to the finals. The person who jumped the furthest overall, was Zahn. Also, thanks to Andi who let the year seven's and eight's come together.

Run Jump Throw
Today the year sevens and eights went to run jump throw together. We did a combined session because our coach couldn't stay long enough to coach us desperately. First we played a game of octopus, I was one of the taggers. It was very hard to catch someone when forty people are charging at you. Next, we learnt about different starts. There are two, one for when you are sprinting and one for when you are doing longer distance running. When we practiced sprinting, we started one step away from the yellow line on the court and when our coach said get ready we took one step forward. When she said get set, we bent both of our knees and when she said go, everyone ran for the other side of the courts as fast as they could. Andy (Our coach) also taught us to not look at her but straight ahead otherwise we would slow down or crash into someone.

Run, Jump Throw
Yesterday the year 7's and 8's had run, jump throw. Unfortunately, the year seven's didn't manage to do the proper run, jump throw because the instructor couldn't stay at school. Luckily, Mr O from LS1 helped us out and took the year 7's.
