Part Adder

Today Shannon and I worked a two digit plus another two digit number using part adder.  We figured out that both of the strategies make 97.

The first strategy is compensating because we added a number and then took away that number.

The second strategy is doubling because we added 30 and another 30.

Part Adder

Today for maths I needed to solve 18 + 8 in 2 different ways. I used the part adder tool to solve the problem. My first way was rounding and my second way was doubling. They both equaled 26.
