Hundertwasser

Hundertwasser was a person who made brilliant drawings. He was from Austria but came to New Zealand (Which is the place where he died). After learning about him, we did some art. We used some of his art as a example. In our art, we included things like lollipop trees and mushroom domes which Hundertwasser used a lot. We also hid some eyes in our art. I tried to hide then well, but the are pretty easy to see.

After that, we got split into different teams and played a game. It was really intense and everyone was trying their best. The final score was 0-0.

Venn Diagram - Richard Pearse and Jean Batten

After creating timelines about Jean Batten and the aviator of our choice, we had to make a venn diagram showing the similarities and differences between the two people. They were both aviators but one (Jean Batten) was female and the other (Richard Pearse) was male. They both have a lot in common like: They were both interested in flight and they were both from New Zealand.

Richard Pearse Timeline

After creating a timeline about Jean Batten, the year seven's had to chose a aviator of there choice to make a timeline about. I chose Richard Pearse. In this timeline there are some events that happened in his life.

Jean Batten Timeline

For inquiry, the year seven's have been learning about aviators. We made a timeline on a woman aviator called Jean Batten. She flew to and from many places including England, Austrlia and New Zealand. Jean Batten was from New Zealand. Our timeline had to be in chronological (Time) order.

Year Seven Leadership

While the year eight's go to dance with Mrs Kirkpatrick, the year seven's learn how to be leaders with Mrs Anderson. The year seven's got split up into groups of four, and had to (Using rubber bands) make a pyramid out of cups. We weren't allowed to touch the cups which was hard, but everyone did it in the end.

Hockey

Yesterday, the year seven's had hockey for sports. We learnt different skills like dribbling the ball and stopping the ball suddenly. First we played the traffic light game. When one of the coaches said a color (Green, Orange, Red, Purple and Silver) we had to do different things. If you got something wrong, you were out. After that, we played a game (Green v White). I was in the green team. The final score was 4 (Green team) and 2 (White team). Everyone had a lot of fun during our first session of hockey.

Five Minutes Of...

This is my five minute story that I made with AJ. We had to write this story back to back and we weren't allowed to speak. It was very interesting because we weren't allowed to communicate with each other.

Operation Rescue
I shivered in the early morning cold, standing there on the beach, in my togs. I decided to have a good morning swim. I leaped off the wharf and started swimming, the water was freezing! I continued to swim further and further until I couldn’t reach the bottom of the sea. Then, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, a humongous wave was heading straight for me, and with no time to swim away, I braced myself for the impact. As the huge waves crashed down on me, I struggled to breathe.

I managed to get above the water and breathe in some fresh air, then I saw more waves coming at me, each as big as the others. The wind howled - as if it was laughing at my fate. I tried to put my arm up, desperately wanted to be rescued. It was at that moment, I saw it. The Westpac helicopter saw me in trouble, and attempted to save me. Then the winch came down, with a man on it, he put a safety harness around me and we went slowly back up into the helicopter. “Thank you for saving my life” I said gratefully.
“Next time you should decide carefully when you go swimming, especially in this awful weather” the medic told me.

Bar-Tailed Godwit Storyboard That

This is a DLO that I created on Bar-Tailed Godwits. Our task was a to make a comic strip on Bar-Tailed Godwits using storyboard that. First we created a comic strip. Then we got some of the most interesting facts about the Godwit and we put it on the comic strip. This was my first time doing something like this so it took a while to get the hang of it. It was actually pretty fun to use with all of the backgrounds and characters you could use.

Hyperbole

Today for writing, LS2 was learning what hyperbole means. Hyperbole is a exaggeration. A example is: I've had millions of interruptions in this classroom today. You probably wouldn't have had millions. Maybe heaps of interruptions, but certainty not millions.

Recounts

Today Mrs Anderson's writing group looked at some recounts written by people in different schools. We went on the blogs of people who were in the Manaiakalani cluster. Next, we put the link to the blog post with the recount onto a drawing and a reason why we thought it was good. Next we had a recount quiz. I scored 10 out of 10.

Measurement Activity

This is a paper plane collage that I made. Yesterday LS2 had some fun and worked to together in groups to make paper planes. We designed and trialed many different planes to see which one went the furthest. My plane flew the most distance out of the people in my group. I used a website to get some ideas, but many people made their planes out of what the already knew, or a youtube video.

Bar-Tailed Godwits

This is a DLO on bar-tailed godwits that my group made. The bar-tailed godwits are a bird that makes the furthest migration each year. They go from New Zealand all the way to Alaska. First we were sorted into groups and made a digital sketch note. Then we made a DLO to show our learning.

The Shake Out Movie

Here is a movie that Latham, Sylis, Jasmine, Reon and I made. It was about a earthquake that happened at school. It was made for a competition called The Outlook For Someday. If you like it, please click the heart on the top right corner. I hope you enjoyed watching it!
