Police Helicopter Visit

Today we had a visit from a police helicopter (One of two in New Zealand) and a police dog with his handler. The whole school assembled outside to watch the helicopter land on the top field. The wind from the helicopter was so powerful that grass flew up through the windows in LS2. First of all, we walked around the helicopter and looked inside. After that, the pilots told us some facts and answered some of our questions. Once the helicopter flew off, a police dog came to visit us. He and his handler showed off how the dog tracks things. We learnt that the dogs can track people, drugs and explosives. After that, the police demonstrated how strong a police dogs teeth by getting the dog to bite a mans arm (He had padding on his arm). A big thanks to Constable Cyrus who organised this.
