Summer Learning Journey

For this activity, I have to say what I think should be done to save the kakapo because there are only 55 left in New Zealand right now. I think that the government should put the kakapo in a uninhabited place in New Zealand (They would have to make sure that there is food and water though).

  1. Good idea, Daniel. The kakapo are in genuine danger and I do think that we have a responsibility to care for them and find a sheltered and safe place to live. I am hopeful that they will find a sheltered island or enclosed area where the kakapo can live, reproduce and grow their numbers from 55 well into the hundreds!

We'll have to wait and see what the government decides to do about protecting the endangered kakapo. I hope that they take action soon!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

  2. Hi Daniel,

What a sad thought, that there are only 55 Kakapo to be found in your beautiful country. I hope, as you say, that a safe place can be found for them where there won't be any predators and where they can safely reproduce. I'll be interested to know hat the government chooses to do! I'm sure there are some talented scientists brain-storming possibilities!

    Cheers!
