Summer Blogging

For this activity I have to think of all of the books I have read from the past year.

One of the books I read last year was called Horrible Histories The Stormin' Normans. I liked it because I gave me lots of facts about history. I learnt that William the Conqueror defeated King Harold at Hastings in England. The author of this book is Terry Deary.

  1. Thanks for the great recommendation, Daniel. It's great to read that you're really interested in history. It's a wonderful thing to be interested in. My dad is actually a history teacher in Canada so he used to teach me a lot when I was younger. I miss sitting around the dining table with him listening to his stories about past generations and famous events.

He used to tell us primarily about the history of Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as the world wars. Do your teachers talk to you about historical events by any chance? You may have to wait until you're a little bit older and in high school to study history as a subject. I'm not entirely familiar with the curriculum for history in New Zealand but I am sure that you'll have the option to enroll in history classes once you're in Year 9+.

In the meantime, I'm sure that you'll continue to learn a great deal by reading books just like 'The Stormin' Normans.' If I come across any good books like these ones I'll send you a message and give you the name of the book and the author!

    Happy reading,

    Rachel
