Summer Blogging

For this activity I had to explain why I wouldn't want to be prime minister.

I wouldn't want to be prime minister one day because if you are prime minister you have to make lots of important decisions. People also might hate the prime minister for the decisions that he/she makes. If you become prime minister you might get very stressful.

  1. Hi Daniel,

You have raised some very important points. I agree that being the Prime Minister might be very, very stressful. You are responsible for making important decisions on a daily basis and some of those decisions will not be very popular with the people who are living in the country. It's definitely one of the hardest jobs around!

In Canada, we just recently elected a new prime minister (Justin Trudeau). I will be interested to see what people think of his leadership abilities. He's very popular at the moment. I wonder if it will last...

Well, I do want to congratulate you on your great work over the past few days. You have done a fabulous job with the tasks and clearly thought a lot about the role of politicians and politics in the country. Well done! This is a complicated topic and I'm really impressed that you completed both activities and the bonus all in one day.

I'll look to logging on to see if you decide to move onto Day 13 and learn a lot more about the national holidays in each country. Did you know that our national holiday (Waitangi Day) is coming up in a few weeks? Do you and your family do anything special to celebrate the day? Aronui and I usually head to a local beach and spend the day playing in the ocean. I love it!

    All the best,

    Rachel

  4. Hi Daniel,

That is a really good question. I had to think quite carefully about it and I think that I can honestly say that I would not want to be the prime minister. It is far too stressful and nerve wracking a job for me. I would find it very hard to be away from my family and to deal with people living in crisis all of the time. I think that I am better suited to being a teacher!

Thanks for posting the question. You really made me think carefully and to seriously consider what I would do.

    Cheers!

    Rachel
